What We Believe

Our Beliefs

At Maranatha, everything begins and ends with the gospel. The following is a summary of the truths upon which our church stands.

1

The Gospel

Maranatha Baptist Church exists because of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe in His miraculous coming, His suffering and death on the cross for our sins, and His victorious resurrection from the dead. The gospel calls every person to repent of sin and believe in God’s provision for our redemption — there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.

2

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God — authoritative, trustworthy, and sufficient for faith and life. It is our standard for what we believe and how we live, and we are committed to preaching and teaching it faithfully.

3

God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit — equal in power and glory, working together in creation, redemption, and the care of His people.

4

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, born of a virgin, fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the substitute for sinners, rose bodily from the grave, and ascended to the right hand of the Father, where He intercedes for His people.

5

Salvation

We believe that salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through repentance and personal faith in the finished work of Christ — not by our own works. Everyone who trusts in Him is forgiven, made new, and given everlasting life.

6

The Church

We believe the local church is a family of baptized believers gathered to worship God, grow in His Word, encourage one another, and carry the gospel to our community and the world. We are committed to being that kind of church here in Clarkston.
